Dr Justin M. Maeda is a Principal Medical Epidemiologist from Tanzania with expertise in health care delivery, public health program implementation, project management, epidemiology and disease intelligence, public health research, administration, and public health leadership. He currently serves as Interim Head of the Division for Surveillance and Disease Intelligence at Africa CDC, where he provides strategic oversight for the continental surveillance efforts to support African Union Member States on early detection and to address public health events for the improvement of individual country and continental health security.

Mohini has 10 years of implementation and strategic partnership experience in digital health in the global health sphere, working with 100s of big and small NGOs, SMEs, donors, private sector, technology companies, and governments. She is currently the Global Head of Digital Health Partnerships at Living Goods. Mohini sees herself as a bridge to catalyze effective collaborations between health care experts, community health workers and technologists to achieve better quality of care for underserved communities. She holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences from McMaster University and is a 2022 candidate for the Global Executive MBA program in Healthcare Life Sciences at Rotman School of Management.

Evelyn Akello is a Social Scientist by profession with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the health sector; with specific focus on Strategic Information and Monitoring and Evaluation. She is the Program Manager of the Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Support (METS) Program at Makerere University School of Public Health. METS provides technical assistance to the Uganda Ministry of Health to establish coordinated and effective national and district systems for management of strategic information for the HIV response. Through her leadership, she has promoted the use of e-Health platforms such as DHIS2 and OpenMRS. In Uganda, OpenMRS has been customized as UgandaEMR and currently 528 health facilities are using it and the target is to have 1000 health facilities using this system by end of 2021. Efforts are on-going to have DHIS2 and UgandaEMR integrated and this will greatly improve the quality of data capture and reporting by the country. In addition, UgandaEMR Apps to support community reporting are an innovation that the METS program has embarked on!

His research focuses on Computer Science-driven solutions to the prevailing world challenges. He is also passionate about contributing to quality Computer Science education that is of sufficient breath and depth, practical and fast enough. Currently, He leads several innovative and research initiatives that aim to create and apply computational methods and tools that can improve the quality of life especially in the developing world setting.
